Musicam USA enjoyed great success at BroadcastAsia, as hundreds of IP thirsty engineers, programmers, station owners, and distributors gravitated toward our booth to learn how they could better expand their communications and distribution. They also congregated for the unveiling of our software version of Suprima, the PCip laptop codec, which received a tremendous response from the crowd.
“Feedback was positive and excitement brewed, as reporters, news gatherers, and engineers recognized the need for a software IP codec immediately,” Musicam USA/CCS President Alvin Sookoo reflects. “In fact, it was developed in response to numerous requests from our savvy clients, who want the convenience of Suprima’s IP performance combined with portable software, which are particularly beneficial for remotes, press conferences, and spot news coverage. “In Asia, Musicam USA/CCS is second to none when it comes to audio codecs, but much of that is due to our fantastic base of clients and their insightful feedback. We look forward in maintaining our reputation for cutting-edge innovation and superior support, and helping clients seamlessly and fully transition into IP. Thanks to all who stopped by our booth! We’re already looking forward to next year’s show!

Someone took the IP plunge…and loved it! Rodney Belizaire of WQXR in New York City exclusively broadcast the Metropolitan Opera’s Summer Concert: Live in Prospect Park and used four Suprimas (two at his station and two at remote sites) to direct the signal out of the park and over his airwaves and Internet stream. "All Mobile Video captured the video link and uplinked it to satellite and downlinked to the Jumbo-trons that were in the park," the Chief Engineer explained. "AMV has a downlink facility in Carteret, NJ and Manhattan. They sent our audio from the park on one of the satellite audio subchannels. We picked it up with both Suprimas for redundancy. We had a DSL circuit at the station and the other unit was on our company WAN for backup."
