NetStar Software Upgrades
From a TFTP Server on your Local Network
It is possible to upgrade your NetStar to the latest revision software via a TFTP Server on your Local Network.

  • First, download a TFTP server application and install it.
  • Create a Folder named "Upgrade" on the PC where TFTP Server is installed.
  • Copy the NetStar Software version upgrade file supplied by MUSICAM USA to the Upgrade Folder you just created.
  • Start the TFTP Server, set the tftp root Directory to the Upgrade folder.

  • First, connect your NetStar to the internet and assign an IP address that is capable of an FTP Download. To learn how to configure the NetStar's IP address settings, Click Here.
  • Next, from the NetStar's Status screen, press ENTER to go to the "Main Menu" screen.
  • Press 4, for Configure to go to the "Config Menu" screen.
  • Press 4, for Software Upgrade.
  • Press 2, for TFTP Server IP, and using the number keypad enter the IP address of the TFTP server and Press Enter.
  • Press 3, for Target Revision, and enter desired Software Revision number. Example 3.3.1 (Use the '#' key for the '.' dots.)
    Note: You can only Upgrade to a revision that is higher than your current revision.
  • Press 4, for Upgrade Now.
  • Use the Up arrow to select "Proceed" and press Enter, the screen will show "Downloading", "Installing", and then "Upgrade Complete". The NetStar should then restart and show it's initial Status Screen.
    Upgrade is now completed. To verify your version number, go back to Software upgrade, and look at item #1 "Version".



    Upgrade from MUSICAM USA's FTP Server via RS232/Telnet.
  • First, connect your NetStar to the internet and assign an IP address that is capable of an FTP Download. To learn how to configure the NetStar's IP address settings, Click Here.
  • Next, from either a terminal emulator or a Telnet client,
    type ver upgrade ?
  • "Software Upgrade (target_rev,tftp_host_ip)" will be displayed.
  • Type ver upgrade 3.3.1, (TFTP IP Address) (ENTER)
  • The screen will show "Downloading", "Installing", and then "Upgrade Complete". The NetStar should then restart and display "Welcome to CCS NetStar version 3.3.1"
    Upgrade is now completed. To verify your version number, go type ver (ENTER), 3.3.1 should be displayed.
